done the calculations – I mean one can carry masochism only so far.
I am not a mechanic, and this has been a major problem. I have met some lovely, honest, hardworking automobile craftsmen, but also more scumbags, thieves, and cheats than I could have imagined existed outside "the beltway."

1. Don’t consider buying a hobby car as an investment. Those days are over.

car yourself. And bear in mind that even a very low mileage original car may not be road worthy even if it looks and smells new!
3. PS: Several days ago I spotted a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with 12,200 miles listed under "classic cars" in our local advertising weekly. By that afternoon I was in nearby Levelland, Texas inspecting a spectacular red and white car which had literally been in a barn for the last 15 years and looked and drove like brand new. It's owner had died in October, and several cars he had owned were being sold by his brother-in-law, the executor of the estate. For $6,500 I have a new toy, but also a decision to make. Should I also buy the pristine 1969 Camaro "Yenko" which was also in the barn and is available for $ 5,000. First I have to find out exactly what does "Yenko" mean.
