I chose to go into consulting after 18 years in management. Rather, I made the choice to consult as my employment opportunities were, on analysis, repeats of what I had just accomplished.  For me, two business closures in my lifetime were enough. For many years I had thought about a career in consulting as the next logical step beyond management. I had mental plans for a major business in it. Later, in my 3rd year of consulting, even with a solid and well thought out business plan for a partnership of various other disciplines I concluded that I was best suited for a business of one. The concept of partners and managing them was replaced with having many associates and a reliable ever growing group of consulting contacts for strength and breadth of skills and expertise.

I look forward to many more years of being a "hired gun" as I truly enjoy helping companies and entrepreneurs become successful.
