IDEAS

    Waste

Consider embracing Eco-Design techniques; it may cost in the short term, but save in the long term. Will the end-of-life (WEEE, etc.) process be managed in-house or contracted out? Will consultants be required for any of these activities?

    Consumer / Environmental health

How will vital components that need to comply with specific standards be validated if they are not in compliance? Consider, also, what Supply Chain Management (SCM) methodologies need updating or outsourced to manage these components. Identify the time frames required for introducing your products into the various international markets that have EG requirements.

    Limited resources & energy

Will new facilities and resources (such as equipment, tools, energy sources, etc.) be needed to alleviate scarce or expensive assets? Can contract groups be used cost effectively? Will you need one or two shifts to meet the time frames and what would be the costs to do so?

    Product safety & liability

Do you need to hire the proper expertise or outside consultants for this class of concerns? How about legal resources and processes to discover, establish and validate safety and liability compliance?

The MRD is refined after this phase; any new or refined EG claims should be resolved and included in the MRD.
