LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES CARE

Many cities such as Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County and the cities of Chicago or Boston (among many) require that products comply with various safety regulations before they are purchased for public use within their jurisdiction. Examples of the types of equipment regulated are fire alarms, CO detectors, building equipment, Radio transmitters, security equipment, and trash can fire retardant.

BROTHERHOODS CARE

Unions and trade organizations are very concerned for the safety of their workers and will require specific safety compliance of equipment used in the trade. For example:
  1. The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees will not install or use products if they do not comply with specific safety regulations such as UL standards.
  2. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers established the eLCOSH, Electronic Library of Construction Occupational safety and health, as a source containing health and safety information, regulations, etc. for the workers.

CUSTOMERS / USERS CARE

Sophisticated OEM purchasers and users understand the necessity for, and culture around, product safety. Thus, they will not consider products that do not have appropriate safety compliance validation. Additionally, individual consumers are becoming more attuned these days to safe products.

COMPETITORS CARE

Some times a company that has a product, which may compete with yours, will review your product to find deficiencies, with the intent of publicly exposing the deficiencies to gain a competitive advantage in the market. A lack of proper regulatory compliance is a relatively easy target for such competitive zeal.
