There are also some product restrictions that are legally-based.

What to do about it!
Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights (IP protection) are the most basic legal issues. Always do the proper IP 'due diligence' to protect your and others IP. Just bear witness to the current problems that some digital, entertainment products face.

Import / Export Barriers and tariffs.
These can hamper the transfer of products from one country to another.

What to do about it!
Some products will have customs duties or tariffs applied - fair or not… that's a fact of life. Product developers should be knowledgeable about the countries into which products are to be marketed, and they need to consider the use of any design characteristics that may be subject to the barriers. Such costs need to be accounted for in the business case.
