The development phase can suffer and escalate if a technology has very few development tools, application examples and technical support.

Before using a technology investigate what tools, application platforms, factory support and expert sources are available to help support the implementation of the technology in your product.
The technology IP is not protected.
Legal strangleholds can annihilate a PD project.
What to do about it!
Make sure the technology does not infringe on other's patents. Investigate any pending and current legal action that may be against the technology source and obtain a legal opinion about the issues.
