No project abort points.
There is no plan to assess the business viability of a PD effort at various points during the project. How do you know when a PD effort is no longer a good business opportunity?

What to do about it!
Sometimes it's best to shut down or drastically re-direct the project when the business case realities become indefensible. Define milestones in the project schedule where there can be reasonable, business-based, Go/No-Go decision points. Objectively review (to the business plan) the product and business situation at each milestone to determine if 'good money is just being thrown away'.

Seek reputable experts in these areas. The best place to start is with experienced colleagues, acquaintances, and professional consultants and societies.

What to do about it!
Determine how control may be gained. If it can't, plan for contingencies to ease anticipated problems.
