The following assessments of when innovation is good or bad within each activity line of the chart are quite general. Such stop and start points (indicated by the traffic lights) as shown in the chart can arguably be located earlier or later on each activity line. But, the intent is to show that the effect of innovation must be a considered part of operational decisions and innovation itself should be managed appropriately.
