
PROFESSIONAL PROFILE Amy-Lynne Williams is the managing partner of Deeth Williams Wall, a Toronto boutique law firm specializing in Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law. She was called to the Ontario Bar (Osgoode Hall) in 1980 and is listed in the 1999 Lexpert/American Lawyer Media publication entitled, "The 1999 Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada" as one of 9 leading Computer and Information Technology lawyers in Canada. For the past 19 years, Amy-Lynne has practised exclusively in the information technology and computer area, initially as in-house counsel for a large, public, systems integration and outsourcing company and then as a partner in an international Bay Street law firm. In 1994 Amy-Lynne co-founded Deeth Williams Wall. Deeth Williams Wall has been rated one of the top 10 Canadian intellectual property firms by an independent survey conducted by Managing Intellectual Property, an international magazine and is mentioned in the 1999 Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada publication as one of the Canadian boutique practices "most frequently recommended". Deeth Williams Wall started with 7 lawyers and now has 15 lawyers, specialising in all aspects of information technology and intellectual property law. Amy-Lynne acts for the both users and producers of technology, advising on international and domestic agreements with respect to systems, software, hardware and database acquisition, distribution, licensing and implementation, systems integration, technology transfers, joint ventures, acquisitions, EDI, agreements for electronic funds transfers and domestic and international networks, outsourcing, electronic publishing and software development for both private industry and government. Amy-Lynne is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian IT Law Association, a member of the Computer Law Association, the Toronto Computer Lawyers Group and the Licensing Executives Society (LES). She has written and spoken on various aspects of information technology law, including EDI, system acquisitions, liability issues, joint ventures, technology company acquisitions, security, electronic commerce, copyright and is a co-author of the chapter on Canadian privacy and data transmission laws in Data Transmission and Privacy, a book on international law.
Amy-Lynne recently testified in a proceeding as an expert witness on the drafting, interpretation and negotiation of information technology contracts.< |
