PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
From concept, and the outset of product design, the product manufacturing requirements must influence and be an integral part of the product development process. Product revenues often fall below forecast because a product is not consistently buildable, cannot realize cost effective production, has excessive field failures, and/or is not effectively supported in the marketplace.
The product design and engineering goals and process must achieve a quality, cost effective, and consistently buildable product (manufacturability). Too often these critical attributes become the responsibility of manufacturing, thus burdening production engineering with tasks that they are ill equipped or less than fully skilled to accomplish. This can result in costly engineering, lost time to market, and a less than complete product.
The complete and timely "handover" of the product design to manufacturing and the productive and cost effective ramp up to production are therefore critical to achieving full product development and a successful product. Involving TECHMAN/KANATA in the product development will help assure that the client achieves its manufacturing, operational, and financial goals. Over the years, TECHMAN/KANATA, has become known as the skill and experience "between a design and a great product".
For critical "time to market" products, Bill Evans and his international colleagues
provide the technical and program management for the product
development from concept into secured manufacturing. Prior to undertaking product development
clients should consider alternative means to bringing product to market, such
as licensing and joint ventures. If licensing is the means to market we
provide license planning, product make ready, licensee search and
qualification, contract negotiations, and ongoing support.
With over 30 years of product experience, Bill assembles a highly competent team of professionals to achieve the client's global product requirements. These teams often include other product
development firms, production technical experts, manufacturing and distribution
consultants, and marketing and sales professionals, industrial
designers/engineers, software and systems engineers, and regulatory
engineers and experts.
Bill focuses the team and resources on product manufacturability from the outset of development. This results in a design that can be cost effectively produced with minimal time to production. The various phases of the overall development program are devised and executed to meet a detailed plan that includes the required manufacturing outcomes. The team remains in place until the process is complete and the manufacturing goals are met.
