WHAT WE DO

SOURCING/SUPPLY

Using his extensive and varied contact base, Bill Evans sources nationally and internationally for products, parts, processes and services. Sourcing is for new or unique supply, primary or secondary vendors, and for cost reduction requirements. Our contracts frequently include onshore and offshore sourcing, qualifying, and vendor management of fabricated and tooled parts, and in securing contract product assembly, turnkey, and OEM manufacturing.

Working with the client and the product engineers we define the product's technical and quality requirements, plan the production deliveries, and define the vendor qualifications. Subsequently, we establish the sourcing parameters, develop the RFQ, assist in preparing the contractual documents, and provide the vendor search, qualification, and selection recommendations.

We work with the suppliers to prepare the tenders. After contracting, often on the factory floor, we assist the vendor achieve their supply, quality and contractual obligations. Associates, located in several countries, provide local administrative and technical support to assure our clients of continued quality product delivery.

For all industries we serve we provide manufacturing outsourcing. TECHMAN/KANATA reviews the client's products and manufacturing needs by focusing on the uniqueness of these. Outsourcing has become, by default, to mean starting or moving production offshore and most particularly into Asia.

Careful analysis should be done before undertaking this move. Often companies don't realize their uniqueness and ignore or are not aware of the true industrial circumstances or capabilities both offshore and onshore. The frequently encountered and very costly (in direct and overhead/lost opportunity costs) consequences of production start up, contractor management, new product development/product changes, regulatory issues, market delivery and support, parts and technology supplier control and management, quality impact/control, etc. should influence the decision for and process of outsourcing.

Moving offshore should be to gain more than immediate manufacturing cost reduction. Being offshore should be to draw on the technology and human capital that is part of this lower cost environment for product engineering and development, operations, and distribution. Being there should also be to open up markets or to sell into growing markets. Onshore outsourcing can be to capture similar benefits.

TECHMAN/KANATA provide the client with the various options and the plan/support and implementation to achieve its outsourcing needs.
